Devlog 01 : Mikaele Wars™

The Journey Begins for Mikaele Wars

Assets & Placeholder Credits

To help bring this prototype to life, I am using a few temporary placeholder assets in this current devlog.

* Background music: Enemy Lines by Jon Björk (Temporary mood placeholder).

* HUD/Weapon Icons : Temporary refence images sourced via Google Images for layout setting.

Hey everyone! Been a long time coming they say. Welcome to the very first devlog for Mikaele Wars, a Third Person Shooter built using Unreal Engine 5.
My goal with this project is to create an immersive game play experience.

# The Vision

At its core, Mikaele Wars is all about smooth gameplay loop and story telling. Here are the key pillars I'm focusing on:
* Pillar 1: Fast-paced, responsive combat / Minimalist task tracking
* Pillar 2: Deep progression systems / Cross-platform synchronization
* Pillar 3: Immersive, stylized 3D environments

# Current Progress: What's Working

Spent the last couple of weeks setting up the architectural foundation.
* Feature 1: Player movement is fully implemented with gamepad, touch screen support for mobile.
* Feature 2: Basic aiming and projectile spawning at targets.

# Overcoming Roadblocks

It hasn't been entirely smooth sailing though. Aiming controls! Come on! The targeting was too fast. To solve this, I ended up building a custom camera trace system that dynamically slows down thumbstick sensitivity when pointing near a target. Seeing a complex problem transform into a smooth feature is easily the most rewarding part of development!

#What’s Next on the Horizon?

For **Devlog 02**, my main focus will be shifting toward polish and assets:
1. Designing and expanding level size, importing our first set of 3D environmental assets.
2. Building the baseline system architecture for saving local data.
3. Adding custom emotional, high-energy background music to match the pace.

See you all in the next one..
